You are on the train on your way to work. Enjoying a peaceful and relaxing trip, conditioning yourself for the day ahead.
When the train stops and the doors open, you suddenly hear 2 noisy kids, playing and shouting. And the father was not doing anything.
All the people on the train are staring at the kids and the father.
How would you feel?
Would you be irritated because of the kids or would you just not care?
Well, most people would feel uneasy, maybe irritated because of the noise.
Then you hear one person asked the father:
“Hey, excuse me, your kids are very noisy and the people are disturbed. Could you do something about it?”
And the father answered, stuttering:
“uhm, oh sorry… I’m really sorry… we… we just came from the hospital… and their mother just died….. the kids don’t know that… I just told them their mother is tired and sleeping… I don’t know what to do anymore?”
How would you feel this time?
You would feel sympathetic? Maybe worried, sorry, or pity?
See, just a few seconds ago, you were irritated. But now, you are more understanding!
That’s a “Paradigm Shift”!
I first heard of the term “Paradigm Shift” when I was in high school, attending a Leadership Workshop hosted by Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC).
I still remember, according to the speaker, he said (of course in our Filipino language, I’m just translating it):
“Your ability to perform a Paradigm Shift can influence your quality of life…”
“Paradigm Shift” - change in perspective - can help you improve your life, have a better life, better relationship, and a better outlook on life.
When you are worried, stressed, maybe you can do a “Paradigm Shift” to be happier😉.
When you are struggling now, maybe you need some “Paradigm Shift” to see the good things that happened to you.
Maybe there’s somebody you know, who is struggling right now, and could use your help by learning about “Paradigm Shift”.
