Last week, I talked about how I got out of my comfort zone. I shared my story how I got into Singapore.
It was a scary decision for me. Going out of my country to explore another place.
On my last day of job in the Philippines, I had an exit interview and my manager asked me, “How long will you be there in Singapore?” I answered, “I will only be there for 2 years!”
But hey, I’m still here, from April 2006 till now, so it has been over 17 years instead of just 2 years!
It takes a lot of courage and a lot of mental strength to get out of my comfort zone because in my mind, I will be “leaving everything behind”.
How I understood the “getting out of my comfort zone” was to “burn the bridges” so I will be forced to get out!!!
It was very challenging, especially in my first few years here in Singapore.
Seems like it is very difficult to accept. I still want to go back.
For many months, I was struggling and I met some friends who also experience the same.
We had similar stories. In our hometown, we were very comfortable. But when we arrived here, we got to meet different types of people, different nationalities, characters, attitude and interests.
And I come to realize that I was not actually “leaving everything behind”, I was “expanding my comfort zone”😱
By being exposed to a whole new world, my views change. My understanding got better and I learned to get along with others better.
The more I “expand my comfort zone”, the more interesting people I meet, the better I become.
Getting out of your comfort zone is Expanding your comfort zone!
I know a lot of you are scared to do the things that you have not done, but don’t be afraid. Because you just don’t know that your fear is stopping you.
Don’t be afraid.
The more you expand your comfort zone, the better you become. The better you become, the more success you will have in your life!
