As mentioned in my previous article, there are 2 types of motivations: Internal and External.
They say Internal Motivations are more important than External Motivations.
They say Internal Motivations have more meaning while External Motivations are superficial.
Weâll, thatâs true!
However, a lot of people that I know of donât have Internal motivations, at least at the beginning, like ME! Only few people are able to find their Internal motivations.
I once joined a personal development workshop - âHow to Tell a Storyâ.
It was a 3-day 9-6 workshop, not an average workshop. Our trainer was an MBA graduate from Harvard and he was very entertaining.
Like most workshops, the first part is usually an ice-breaker and next part, you are assigned to a group. It was fun! We were instructed to tell ANY story. I survived that part.
But the next part, I WAS STUCK! We had to tell OUR OWN STORIES!
I was really intimidated by the others because they have very powerful stories!
When they shared their stories, our eyes were filled with tears. Tissue papers appeared on each tables. Whatâs the reason why they had powerful and captivating stories? They had very deep Internal Motivations.
For me, I could not do that, because I donât have a very powerful story. I started hopping from one table to another because I want to listen to other stories.
Maybe thereâs something I can get from their stories.
Still nothingâŠ
I went and talk to our trainer, telling my concern and he told me that:
Itâs normal! Not everyone knows whatâs their Internal Motivation.
But USE YOUR EXTERNAL Motivation to help you to get started.
MOTIVATIONS CHANGE!
That helped me a lot!
So if you are also like me, struggling to find your Internal Motivations, ITâS OK!
Motivations Change! It is enough to get you started. Once you have started, keep going, and find your Internal Motivation.
I hope this helps.

Itâs time to dream big, again! #5
Maybe it is still far but it's far already from where you started. I always keep that in mind.
